The Dispersion of our people from their birthplaces throughout South Africa through the Group Areas Act of 1958 has created a deep sense of loss. This then is all that remains of `Kallville` in Redhill. My birthplace and the roots of who I am...this is the remains of the Homestead that I will return to and rebuild!
4 Denneboom Street
So here we are about twenty five years later, settled into our House at 4 Denneboom Road Belhar, Western Cape.My wife June and our two kids Ryan and Jodie as well as my Father In Law Mickey Fisher, two Siberian Huskies and Winkie poo our cat, make up the Kallis household. You`ll find some plants, rocks and other assorted items brought over from Redhill as we try to hold on to those tangible memories... The fynbos tree and ferns on our verge from `Brook se Koppie` acts as silent reminders. We often go back to `Kallville`because sitting out in the open veld is part of our genes as is standing on the secret moving boulder on the way to Kleinplaas Dam, rocking it up and down, much to the surprise of visitors!Only an original Redhill inhabitant would know about that!
